Programme Overview
The Diploma in Highway Engineering is a specialist qualification in roading. The major goal of the Diploma is to provide the roading industry with a specialist programme, custom built to meet the requirements of the industry at technicians level.
The programme is suitable for applicants currently in employment who wish to broaden their knowledge in the field of roading technology.
This programme is offered by NZIHT in association with the Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki (WITT), which is the accredited provider. All academic processes associated with programme delivery are carried out in accordance with WITT's Quality Management System.

Semester 1 - February to June
Semester 2 - July to November

This is a one year-full time programme of study, or equivalent part-time.

Graduate Profile
The purpose of the Diploma in Highway Engineering is to produce graduates who will be able to:

Creatively plan, design, control, budget and prioritise construction and maintenance programmes.

Supervise, direct and manage roading projects.

Implement and complete projects without direct supervision.

Undertake a wide range of support activities, including organisation, management, administration, liaison and public relations.

Analyse and evaluate technical and economical options.
-
Perform a significant supervisory role.

Design road alignment, drainage and pavement structures.
International Students English Language Entry Requirements
English Language Entry Requirements are one of :

5.5 IELTS (no less than 5.0 in any module, academic version).

690 TOEIC with no less than 300 in the reading section.

TOEFL 525 plus TWE 4.5
-
218/300 WITT Course Entrance Assessment.
