This course is for people working in the Civil Infrastructure industries who have the responsibility for protecting health, safety and the environment. This course, together with NZIHT’s Health & Safety - Part A (Bronze Card LCP) course will give participants additional unit standards towards the National Certificate in Civil Infrastructure Health, Safety and Environment (Operation) (Level 3). This course is also available to anyone wishing to improve their knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.

- Health and Safety requirements on a civil infrastructure worksite
- Working safely with others at a civil infrastructure worksite
- Health and Safety in Employment Regulations relating to notifiable works
- Types and purpose of work permits and hazard controls for notifiable works
- Effects of worksite environments on personal health and fitness and their control
- Prevention and control of substance use on civil infrastructure worksites
- Symptoms, causes and effects of fatigue and stress and ways to reduce them
On completion of this course participants will have the knowledge to:
- Identify and describe health and safety requirements on a civil infrastructure worksite
- Demonstrate knowledge of workplace regulations relating to notifiable works
- Describe hazard controls for notifiable works typical of civil worksites
- Describe effects of worksite environments on health and fitness
- Describe nutrition and hydration requirements on civil worksites
- Describe the prevention and control of substance use on civil worksites
- Describe the symptoms, causes and effects of fatigue and stress
National Qualification information:
The training day and associated course book covers the theoretical knowledge of the below listed unit standards. Candidates must study the course book and complete assessment activities involving theory questions and workplace tasks. Assessment workbooks are handed out on the training day and must be fully completed and returned to NZIHT within 6 weeks of the course start date. Assessment of prior learning is available provided candidates supply full and valid evidence. Those who are working towards the National Certificate in Civil Infrastructure Health, Safety and Environment (Operations) - whether it is for Operate Safe Bronze Card registration, or working towards QEST or any other health and safety system.

WITT SUBSIDISED OPTION - $162 +GST *conditions apply and subject to available funding
This subsidised option is only available to NZ Citizens or Permanent Residents of NZ who supply the necessary enrolment information. It includes the full assessment of the listed unit standards. * In order to receive the WITT subsidised fee, each person must: - Complete a WITT enrolment form and provide a copy of their NZ birth certificate or NZ passport prior to, or on, the training date. - Complete an assessment workbook with theory and practical components. This workbook will be given out at the course and must be returned to NZIHT within six weeks from the course date. If the above conditions are not met, the full course fee will be charged. INFRATRAIN SUBSIDISED TRAINIEE OPTION - $260 +GST includes assessment of listed unit standards
To be eligible for this subsidy, the individual participant MUST BE signed into a relevant InfraTrain qualification. Note: InfraTrain reserves the right to review the subsidy rate at any time. To be accepted under this option a participant must supply their InfraTrain ID No plus complete a WITT enrolment form and provide a copy of their birth certificate or passport in order to have the unit standards assessed.Participants must fully complete a workbook with theory and practical components. This workbook will be given out at the course and must be returned to NZIHT within six (6) weeks from the course start date. FULL COURSE FEE - $650 +GST may include assessment of listed unit standards
*To be eligible for a fee subsidy a course participant must provide evidence of NZ Citizenship or Permanent Residence or being signed into a relevant InfraTrain qualification. This full fee option will apply to all participants who may not (e.g. non NZ resident) or do not meet the above requirements. To enable assessment of unit standards a candidate must complete a WITT enrolment form plus provide a copy of their birth certificate or passport. Candidates for assessment must also fully complete an assessment workbook with theory and practical components. This workbook will be given out at the course and must be returned to NZIHT within six (6) weeks from the course start date.
