Getting More out of RAMM

2 day Course
Presenter: CJN Technologies Ltd

RAMM software is the standard for Road Asset Management in New Zealand. This practical and intensive hands-on workshop is designed to go deeper into many of the functional areas in RAMM that are not covered in detail in the "Using RAMM" course.

Topics include:

RAMM Network Manager
RAMM Network Manager is a powerful and flexible tool for performing high-level network actions such as splitting a carriageway, reversing a road etc. All aspects of this tool are dealt with in-depth and a number of network changes are worked through in detail. Users are also shown how to manage their own map road centrelines to coincide with the network changes.

RAMM SQL
RAMM SQL is a powerful query tool that uses the SQL language to extract and report on data in RAMM. This replaces the ‘isql’ tool in RAMM for Unix and has many features for the more experienced RAMM user. The course covers the features of RAMM SQL but doesn’t go into depth about the SQL language itself.

User Defined Tables
New to RAMM is the ability to define your own assets or other items of interest within RAMM.

Surfaces and Pavement Structure
The surfacing module in RAMM has changed. These changes and the Pavement Structure modules in RAMM are covered in detail.

RAMM Forward Work Programme
RAMM has a 20 year forward work programming tool and this course shows you what it does from high level perspective. Those wishing to have extensive training in this tool should attend the separate RAMM Forward Work Programming course.

Traffic Counting
Traffic data is some of the most important information in your RAMM database.  Recent improvements provide you with a sophisticated estimation tool which identifies the roads which you need to count most often and recommends the sites at which to perform the counts.

You can use your knowledge of the network to relate Carriageway Sections into Traffic Links which are known to have similar Traffic Volumes.  Traffic Links with similar growth patterns are also related to one another and used to determine the rate of growth.  Using the actual count data available and certain other factors we can determine improved estimates for all the Carriageway Sections in the network whether we have a count site nearby or not.

RAMM Contractor and Pocket RAMM
This involves a brief tour of the functionality which allows contractors to run their maintenance contracts through RAMM and allows for field data capture of inventory data.

Tips & Tricks
Additionally a number of RAMM 'tips and tricks' are described and used within the course.

On completion of this course participants will have the knowledge to:

Attendees will gain an in-depth knowledge of many aspects of RAMM and will be more confident in their use of the software.
