The performance of unsealed roads is largely dependent on the quality of available road making materials, local environmental conditions, maintenance policies and available resources. 

Recent research indicates that improvements to unsealed roads can be made through the adoption of good practices and alterations to some traditional management techniques. 

This course is based around principles contained in the Australian Road Research Board's Manual of Unsealed Roads - Guidelines to Good Practice modified to suit New Zealand conditions and includes coverage of forestry roading.

An optional feature of this workshop is a field inspection / analysis of where practical advice on real problems and areas of concern can be offered. This feature is only available for in-house courses.
