This course outlines the principles of work site safety, how to prepare a safety plan, recognise potential hazards, locate, identify and isolate services and manage equipment in order to maintain a clean, safe, tidy working environment at a work site. Knowledge gained on this course will assist compliance with the Health and Safety in Employment Act.

- Subcontractors' responsibilities

- Establishing, maintaining and disestablishing site services

- Essential maintenance and safety checks for tools and machinery

- Safe usage of electrical equipment outdoors
- Roadwork signs - maintenance and safety checks

On completion of this course participants will have the knowledge to:
- Recognise responsibilities under the Health and Safety in Employment Act
- Prepare a work site safety plan
- Understand the principles of establishing, maintaining and disestablishing work sites
- Maintain a clean safe work site
- Understand functions of construction plant and equipment
- Implement safe procedures for handling flammable work liquids and electrical equipment
- Maintain work records.

This course may be used to contribute towards the theoretical requirements of the following unit standards: 6452 Maintain transport and store roadwork signs for civil construction works. 6453 Demonstrate knowledge of civil construction works. 6454 (expiring) Demonstrate knowledge of safety principles and maintain safety on civil construction works. 6471 Dismantle decommissioned services for civil construction. 6472 Carry out manual excavation for civil construction works. 6475 Maintain records for civil construction work. 6478 Maintain and disestablish temporary civil work sites. 17327 Communicate on civil construction sites.

$405.00 per person + GST or $162.00 per person + GST after InfraTrain subsidy - InfraTrain subsidy of 60% currently applies.
