Competent supervision skills are essential in producing quality chipsealing performance in the field. Effective construction and economy can be achieved with good planning and organisation which best utilises the resources available to the supervisor.
Topics include:
- Quality assurance
- Contract administration
- Site communication
- Job planning and organisation
- Project control
- Materials used in sealing
- Overview of design
- Pre-sealing site checks
- Validating site conditions
- Supervision of operations
On completion of this course participants will have the knowledge to:
- Perform all site related contract communication duties required of a construction contractor's supervisor
- Plan and organise chipsealing construction to comply with specified requirements
- Describe the types of seal coats and basic design processes for chipseal
- Apply their knowledge of bitumen and chip selection to produce high quality surfacing
- Confirm or modify original design according to actual conditions immediately prior to sealing
- Directly supervise the physical works involved in chipseal construction
