Supervision and Control of Road Maintenance Works

This course examines the duties and functions of a road maintenance supervisor in planning, supervising, monitoring and controlling work outputs. 

The course also examines effective review and reporting systems that can be used to measure contract results.

On completion of this course participants will have the knowledge to:

  • Identify the scope of responsibilities and authorisations to be met
  • Identify the project objectives and confirm requirements of site and operational activities
  • Inspect and identify defects in and maintenance needs of the roadingnetwork
  • Understand project planning targets and implement changes as required
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring and recording of on-site performance, including measurement of work output, and report on programme achievements
  • Prepare and monitor calendarised monthly/annual maintenance programme and budgets.



National Qualification information:

This course may be used to contribute towards the theoretical requirements of the following unit standards:
11321  Plan and supervise road maintenance contracts
11322  (expiring) Forecast roading maintenance work
