Today, New Zealand is confronted with unprecedented challenges to our global climate and economy and we must be aware that without a rapid shift towards more forward and innovative thinking we may indeed be on the verge of unsustainable lifestyles.
The Transport Industry must assume its share of responsibility.
The seriousness of the situation calls for the Roading Industry to rise to the challenges and opportunities of the emerging green economy and to reduce its impact on the environment and enable it to contribute pro-actively to a more sustainable future.

This conference will highlight a series of projects and topics from New Zealand and around the world that will demonstrate commitment to the environment together with road sustainability.

Papers will be invited from overseas experts and local practitioners on the following (but not limited to) topics:

§         Environmental aspects of roading materials

§         Recycling of materials

§         New mixing and compaction technologies

§         Contamination from water run-off

§         Noise Pollution

§         Sediment Control

§         Greenhouse Gas Emissions

This two day conference will provide delegates with local and overseas techniques on how to consider the environment during design, construction and maintenance of New Zealand roads. The conference is also structured to guide and further inspire both the private and public sectors on the benefits of sustainable road schemes.
