Overview

This two-day theory only course provides base STMS knowledge for the STMS category A, B or C learning blocks and the STMS Mobile learning block.

This course will cover all of the base knowledge an STMS needs to know. Such as how to conduct a toolbox or site briefing, how to read a TMP, how to deal with incidents, how to manage risk.

This is a theory only course and prepares an STMS to go on to one or more of the Categories (A, B and/or C).  The STMS Universal course is followed with a category A/B course.

The TTM worker unit standard is a pre-requisite for this training.

This training cannot be used as an STMS -NP or practising STMS warrant. In order to gain these warrants, you move up to the next level.

On completion of this course (subject to passing the assessment) you will be awarded unit standard 31961: Explain the requirements for the worksite under temporary traffic management.

Who should attend

Any person who is intending to be:

  • an onsite STMS on a category A, B or C road environment or in a mobile operation
  • a Traffic Operations Manager
  • a TTM Mentor, TTM Assessor or TTM Trainer
  • a TTM Planner, TMP Approver, TTM Auditor, Traffic Management Coordinator or Corridor Manager.

PRE-REQUISITE FOR ENTRY

The TMO non-practising warrant is the minimum prerequisite to this course.

If you hold a current L1 Basic TC qualification you can also attend this course.

ON COMPLETION OF THIS COURSE

You will be issued a STMS-U warrant. This warrant confirms successful completion of the STMS Universal workshop but cannot be used as an STMS -NP or practising STMS warrant.
